Fallen Trees – Lubomyr Melnyk
December 13, 2018
Lubomyr Melnyk‘s Fallen Trees is the aural equivalent of rays of sunshine poking through the clouds of a light shower. As a byproduct of his breakneck pace and turbulent style, notes are perpetually raining down only to disappear moments later. The glimmering upper register engages in soft-spoken dialogue with its lower counterpart and illuminates what would otherwise be a dark affair. The complex composite parts marvel, and the greater picture in which they fit could abate any storm. It makes for a project that in spite of its various complexities has a deceptive accessibility and can undoubtedly be enjoyed by all.
